PROGRAM DETAILS

Grace Loves, the outreach arm of Grace Covenant Church, are offering English as a Second Language classes as a service to the community. It is our desire to use this opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with Internationals. All of our teachers are unpaid volunteers. Quality English instruction is available on 5 different class levels. The basic beginner class is appropriate for those who speak little or no English. A level slightly above this is categorized as Beginner 1, and a step higher is Beginner 2-3. Our Intermediate class teaches students who know enough to “get by” and require practice with sentence structure, speaking more fluently and writing. For those who are Advanced learners, improving their English to be successful in the job market or conversing are goal markers. ESL church based programs in the DC area collaborate and continuously discuss ways we can best meet the needs of those who walk through our church doors for not only English but in practical ways.

 

STUDENTS

It has not been uncommon for our program to register up to 145 students in one year, coming from 18 different countries.

 

CLASSES

GCC Chantilly offers all levels from beginner to advanced each Tuesday evening from 6:30pm-8:30pm starting Sep 3, 2024 until Dec 10, 2024 and again Jan 7, 2025 to May 6, 2025

GCC Sterling offers beginner level classes only each Monday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm starting Sep 9, 2024 until Dec 9, 2024 and again January 6, 2025 to May 5, 2025.

Please note: There is a Grace Kids Ministry (age 2-11) available at the Chantilly campus only for those students attending classes. There is no supervision for ages 12-17 at this time.

REGISTRATION

All students are required to register either online thru Realm or in person with a paper form. Student Registration ESL Fall 2024 

Once registration information is obtained, there will be a placement test administered to place the student in the best class for learning.
