Ready for The Windy City

by Grace Covenant Church on May 15, 2014

Tomorrow morning, a team of UChurch (our campus ministry) students are heading to Chicago for a missions trip. This post is from one of the students, Ryan.

Excited, Nervous, and Expecting... As a second year college student at George Mason University, I am simply in awe of the goodness of God. He has blessed me enough with a spiritual family at UCHURCH, has opened an internship at Grace Covenant under campus ministry, and has prepared me for Chicago.

God not only fully supplied the funds, but He also equipped me for advancing His kingdom. Through the evangelistic tools of the GodTest, handing out cotton candy, and reaching the college campus, I'm claiming that Chicago will be transformed. I am believing for young souls to find purpose in God, testimonies of families restored, and a city given a hope found in nobody else than Jesus.

It's surreal to think I will start my summer on the mission's field with such an amazing team. I have heard nothing but great things about Pastor Chad Runge of The Church of West Ridge and his heart for Chicago. Certainly, God has brought our mission’s team together to the “Windy City," and all for His glory! As we prepare in prayer, engage in team meetings, and practice our two-minute miracles, we will arrive in Chicago ready to serve the community with a step of faith.

With that, I am reminded about how the Bible describes Peter walking on water. The disciples had witnessed Jesus standing in the midst of a storm and crashing waves, yet something in Peter wanted to do the same. Therefore, we decide to step out of the boat, and take a step toward Jesus. Regardless of the wind, obstacles we face, or fears we have ourselves, God allows for the impossible to become possible. For me, this obedient step means an active pursuit for God. It's believing for a people I have yet to encounter, a city I have never set foot on. It's praying for a generation to be saved.
